They issued 1.224 million entry and exit permits for mainland residents, 3.179 million visas for visits to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 380,000 stay and residence permits for foreigners in China. A total of 335,000 ordinary passports were issued in the first half of the year, mainly for study, employment and business purposes, only 2 percent of the number issued in the same period in 2019.

Exit and entry documents shall be suspended for non-emergency purposes

Chen Jie, spokesman for the National Immigration Administration and head of the administration's policy and regulation department, said that to protect people's health and safety, the administration has always given top priority to the prevention of foreign imports. "Exit and entry documents such as ordinary passports will not be issued temporarily for non-essential and non-emergency reasons. If the applicant does not have urgent and necessary reasons, it is suggested to cancel or postpone the departure plan."

Due to the impact of the epidemic, immigration policies have been tightened recently. Countries have implemented a series of strict policies and measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic through immigration channels.

01.Singapore to tighten immigration policy again

Singapore has also urgently tightened entry controls for some Chinese tourists. On July 31, Singapore's Ministry of Health announced that from 11:59 PM on August 2, passengers entering Singapore from China's Jiangsu Province must abide by a seven-day residence notice, and short-term passengers holding air passes will not be allowed in. In addition, starting at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 2, travelers who have been to Australia in the past 21 days must stay at a government-designated facility for 14 days.

02.The timing of the resumption of the Sino-British voyage is wavering

For foreigners coming to China, strict control policies are still in place to prevent the importation of the epidemic. National migration management and international civil aviation management belong to the linkage mechanism, which means that it is difficult to increase international flight capacity in the short term. Among them, there has been no sign of the resumption of regular passenger flights between China and the UK since December 28, 2020. In particular, the UK is still in a period of rebounding. Although the number of new daily cases has declined since July 18, it will take some time to recover to the low before May 26. For Chinese students enrolled in British universities in autumn 2021, the chances of taking direct flights between China and the UK in September and October are slim. From October 31, 2021, civil flights will begin to implement the winter and spring schedule. It is predicted that direct flights between China and Britain will not resume until winter or spring at the earliest.

03.Information on passport application during the epidemic period
