Daming Palace National Heritage Park is a world cultural heritage and a national key cultural relics protection unit. Located on Taihua South Road, Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, Daming Palace is located on the Longshouyuan in the north of Chang’an City.
The Daming Palace was the most magnificent palace complex in the Tang Empire and the largest palace complex in the world at that time. It was a national symbol of the Tang Dynasty. It was first built in the eighth year of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty and destroyed at the end of the Tang Dynasty, covering an area of 3.2 square kilometers.
The Daming Palace site is the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council in 1961. It is a major site protection project of world significance determined by the International Council of Ancient Ruins, and is an important part of the Silk Road as a whole to apply for world cultural heritage. The Daming Palace National Heritage Park is a key project for the urban construction of Xi’an, the protection of large relics and the improvement of people’s livelihood. Xi’an’s "City Central Park" makes the protection of the Daming Palace relics area an urban growth pole that drives Xi’an’s first, balanced and scientific development. It will become the ecological foundation of Xi'an's future urban development, the most important humanistic symbol, and an important support for the world's ancient civilized capital, further enhancing Xi'an's urban characteristics.
On June 22, 2014, at the 38th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting held in Doha, Qatar, the site of the Daming Palace in Chang’an City of Tang Dynasty was used as a joint application for "Silk Road: Chang’an" by China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. -A site in the "Tianshan Corridor Road Network" was successfully included in the "World Heritage List".
From February 2020, from the date of resumption of operation to December 31, 2020, a free tour policy will be implemented for all medical workers nationwide. On December 29, 2020, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the Daming Palace National Heritage Park as a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
