Terracotta Warriors and Horses, also referred to as Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses or Qin Warriors, are the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units and the first batch of Chinese World Heritage Sites. They are located in the Terracotta Warriors and Horses pit 1.5 kilometers east of the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang in Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province.
The terracotta warriors and horses are a type of ancient tomb sculptures. The figurines appear as funerary objects in ancient tombs. The terracotta warriors and horses are made into burial objects in the shape of warriors (chariots, horses, and soldiers).
On March 4, 1961, the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang was announced as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council. In March 1974, the terracotta warriors were discovered. In 1987, the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin and the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit was approved by UNESCO to be included in the "World Heritage List" and hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." A golden business card of brilliant civilization, is known as one of the world's eight rare treasures of ancient tombs.
