According to the Nationality Law of our country, Article 13 provides:

Aliens who have previously held Chinese nationality may, with justifiable reasons, apply for restoration of Chinese nationality; Those whose restoration of Chinese nationality is approved shall not retain foreign nationality.

So, after joining a foreign nationality, Chinese can apply for the restoration of Chinese nationality!!

Application process

1. In accordance with the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, applications for restoration of Chinese nationality shall be submitted to Chinese diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, and to the public security bureau of the city or county where the original hukou is located in China.

2. If an applicant applies to the domestic public security organ for the restoration of Chinese nationality, he/she may, at the time of application, submit the proof that he/she has ever had Chinese nationality, the proof of close family relationship of Chinese nationality, the proof of domestic housing security, the proof of economic security and other materials related to the reason for the restoration of Chinese nationality.

3. After accepting the application, the public security organ will make a decision on whether to approve or reject the application after examining the applicant's original Chinese nationality, the circumstances when he/she went abroad, the acquisition and loss of foreign nationality, the reasons for the restoration of Chinese nationality and other specific circumstances.

1. Assess whether the qualifications for reinstatement are met;

2. The applicant submits the materials (sign in person);

3. Pending trial;

4. Approval;

5. Obtain the approval document of the application for reinstatement;

6. Renunciation of foreign nationality;

7. Official restoration of Chinese nationality.

Application for restoration of Chinese nationality

Certifying materials

1. Two completed application forms with a 2-inch color recent headless photo

2. Declaration of voluntary Renunciation of Foreign nationality (signed by myself)

3. Written application for voluntary restoration of Chinese nationality (reason for restoration, whether it is voluntary, whether it will live in China forever, whether it will abide by the Constitution and laws of China voluntarily) (signed by myself)

4. A written explanation of the process of joining the foreign household registration

(1) Type and number of the Chinese passport held at the time of departure

(2) The reasons for naturalization, the time, the place and the department granting naturalization

(3) when permanent residence is obtained before naturalization

(4) Whether they have gone through renunciation procedures in the Chinese consulate abroad;

5. Applicant's resume: (Resume of study and work, permanent residence, naturalization and residence back in China before and after departure)

6. Relevant proof of naturalization (naturalization certificate or identity certificate issued upon naturalization, etc.)

7. Present foreign passport, passport translation and copies of Chinese visa and residence permit

8. Temporary accommodation registration certificate in China (issued by the police station)

9. Applicant's original registration cancellation certificate and original Chinese passport before naturalization

10. Proof of the applicant's housing status in the country

11. Applicant's employment, income proof or bank deposit proof of his/her financial status

12. If the applicant is a minor, proof of the marital status of the parents shall also be submitted; if the parents are divorced, proof of the ownership of the custody of the applicant shall be presented; if one of the parents dies, a death certificate shall be presented

13. The identity certificate of the applicant's Chinese close relatives (spouse, parents, children, siblings) (household register, ID card, passport, etc.) and the notarization that can prove the kinship

14. Basic information of the applicant's Chinese near relatives, nationality, residence and written opinions on the applicant's naturalization

15. The applicant has no criminal certificate abroad (issued by foreign police and authenticated by the embassy).

16. Other supporting materials deemed necessary by the Exit and Entry Administration department of the public security organ

It should be noted that the proposed place of residence is the place of cancellation of the original household registration, should meet the following conditions:

1. Have resided in China continuously for at least 3 months within 2 years from the date of application;

2. Have a legal fixed residence;

3, have a stable life security, enough to guarantee a stable source of life savings.
