Small Wild Goose Pagoda, also known as "Jianfu Temple Pagoda", was built during the Reign of Emperor Jinglong of the Tang Dynasty. It is one of the most important symbols of Chang 'an of the Tang Dynasty, along with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The small Wild goose Pagoda and the ancient clock in the bell tower of Jianfu Temple are collectively known as "Wild Goose Pagoda Morning Bell", one of the "eight Views of Guanzhong". They are an integral part of Xi 'an Museum and a national AAAA level tourist attraction.
Xiao Yan Pagoda is a typical work of square brick pagoda with dense eaves in early China. The original 15 stories, the existing 13 stories, 43.4 meters high, beautiful tower shape, the Tang Dynasty Buddhist architectural art heritage, Buddhism into the Central Plains and into the Han Culture of the landmark building.
On March 4, 1961, xiaoyan Pagoda was announced by The State Council as one of the first national key cultural relics protection units. On June 22, 2014, held in doha, Qatar, the 38th UNESCO world heritage committee meeting, the small wild goose pagoda as China, kazakhstan and kyrgyzstan joint support of "the silk road: changan - tianshan corridor network" of a site successfully listed in the "world heritage list".
