Notice on the Pilot Implementation of Online Registration for Foreigners' Accommodation Other Than Hotels

According to Article 39 of the "Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China", when foreigners stay at hotels in China, the hotels shall, in accordance with the relevant regulations on the management of hotel security, handle the accommodation registration for them and submit the accommodation registration information of foreigners to the local public security authorities. When foreigners reside or stay at other places other than hotels, they shall, within 24 hours after checking in, register with the public security authorities at the place of residence by themselves or the person who is staying with them. To further enhance the convenience of foreigners' lives in China and facilitate the accommodation registration of foreigners who stay outside hotels, starting from March 20, 2026, the National Immigration Administration has piloted the online processing of accommodation registration services in seven provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) including Hebei, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Hubei, Guangxi, Chongqing and Sichuan. The service will be gradually promoted nationwide based on the trial results.
