The 2024 China Int'l Sister Cities Conference opened in Kunming

On November 18, the 2024 China International Sister Cities Conference, co-sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China International Sister Cities Federation and the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and hosted by the People's Government of Kunming City, opened in Kunming. The theme of the conference is "Shared win-win for a Better Future". Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress attended and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

As mankind joins hands in the historical process of modernization, we hope that our sister cities will seize new opportunities for opening-up and cooperation, stimulate new driving forces for innovation and development, forge new cooperation projects that benefit the people, write a new chapter in mutual learning among civilizations, and inject more positive energy into safeguarding world peace, stability and prosperity.

More than 700 guests, including 37 provincial and minister-level leaders, 74 mayors and vice mayors from 41 countries on five continents, from 66 provinces and states, 125 cities, 63 local government organizations and friendly organizations, as well as experts, scholars, enterprises and media representatives, attended the event.

More than 40 Chinese and foreign guests exchanged and spoke at four parallel forums on "Science and Technology Innovation helps build smart Cities", "Urban Green Development Benefits people's livelihood", "Safeguarding and inheriting the historical and cultural roots of cities" and "Transportation Interconnection Builds a City Community with a shared Future", offering suggestions and suggestions for local governments at home and abroad to promote exchanges and mutual learning, build cooperation consensus, improve people's livelihood and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
