Recently, representatives of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Singapore signed the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Mutual Exemption of Visas for Ordinary Passport Holders in Beijing. The Agreement will enter into force on February 9, 2024. At that time, ordinary passport holders of both sides can enter each other's country visa-free for a stay of not more than 30 days. Those who enter the other country to engage in activities that require prior authorization, such as work or news reporting, and those who intend to stay in the other country for more than 30 days, will be required to obtain the appropriate visas before entering the other country.

To date, China has concluded mutual visa exemption and waiver agreements with 157 countries, covering different passport types; it has reached agreements or arrangements with 44 countries to simplify visa procedures, and has realized full mutual visa exemption and waiver with 22 countries, including Singapore, Maldives and Kazakhstan. In addition, more than 60 countries and regions have granted Chinese citizens visa-free access or visa-on-arrival facilities. The degree of facilitation for Chinese citizens leaving China has increased significantly, and the "gold content" of the Chinese passport will become higher and higher.

Wu Xi, Director General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said: In recent times, China has launched a series of measures to facilitate people-to-people exchanges, which fully demonstrates China's determination to promote a high level of opening up to the outside world, and we welcome friends from all over the world to come to China to travel, do business, invest and study. We welcome friends from all over the world to come to China for tourism, business, investment and study. We hope that Chinese and foreign friends will respect the laws and regulations of the local countries as well as bilateral agreements, and work together to maintain the order of the exchange of Chinese and foreign people.
