On the morning of October 12th, Ke Jipei, the representative of the International Organization for Migration in China, and a group of 10 officials from EU countries in China went to Xi’an Jiaotong University for a discussion and exchange.

Lin Zhaonan, Director of the International Cooperation Division of the Comprehensive Department (International Cooperation Department of Immigration Affairs) of the National Immigration Bureau, Cui Guozheng, Deputy Director of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Shaanxi Provincial Public Security Bureau, Song Yang, Director of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Xi'an Public Security Bureau, and Director of the Office of the Shaanxi Frontier Inspection Station Wu Qian attended the forum. Cheng Jin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee, attended the symposium and delivered a speech.

On behalf of the school, Cheng Jin welcomed the guests and expressed sincere gratitude to the national ministries and commissions and relevant provincial and municipal departments that have cared about and supported the development of the school for a long time. He introduced the school’s history, westward migration, international cooperation, and innovation port construction. He said that in the face of the new international situation, the school will carry out international exchanges and cooperation with a more open mind, and strive to build a win-win cooperation. Partnership, seek development through openness, and seek win-win through cooperation.

Cui Guozheng introduced the members of the visiting delegation. Song Yang introduced the situation of serving foreigners, including business content, policies to benefit the people, and convenient measures for foreigners during the epidemic prevention and control period.

Ke Jipei said that the visit was carried out under the framework of the “Support China-EU Dialogue in the Field of Personnel Exchanges and Immigration”. He emphasized the importance of population mobility under the current international situation, especially the mobility of scientific and technical personnel and students, and expressed his hope to learn about international students. Living and studying in China, I also look forward to further exchanges and cooperation with the school.

The “Support China-EU People Exchange and Migration Dialogue Project” was launched in 2016. The first phase of the project was successfully concluded in 2018, and the second phase of the project started in 2019. Training, research and other forms will further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between China and Europe, promote normal population flow between China and Europe, and prevent and reduce illegal immigration.

He Changzhong, Director of the International Office, and Wen Guangrui, Dean of the School of International Education, respectively introduced the situation of foreign teachers and international students in the school. Representatives of international students introduced their studies and life in the school and exchanged views with the delegation.

Lin Zhaonan said that the Chinese government is committed to promoting global talent exchanges with an open and inclusive attitude, and welcomes and embraces people from all over the world to come to China for exchanges and cooperation. Xi'an Jiaotong University has a long history, beautiful environment, and strong teachers. I hope that this forum can build a bridge for cooperation and exchange between Xi'an Jiaotong University and visiting universities in EU countries.
